Christmas in January

Christmas was one month ago today (can you believe it?). My decorations are packed away and I’m quite depressed about it because it is my most favorite holiday. I could stare at a tree decorated with white lights and metallic ornaments all day. For me, nothing is better than gathering with extended family around a beautiful tree, with good food, and plenty of laughs making wonderful memories.

Hubby and I started alternating holidays with our families once we moved to Atlanta. Thanksgiving with his family, Christmas with my family and then we switch it up the next year. This past Christmas was supposed to be at my parents’ house in SC with my brother and his family. It was going to be magical. However, COVID said 'AHT AHT'!

In the interest of staying safe, we called off our gathering. I knew it was the right call but I was still devastated. Hubby must have sensed my sadness and suggested that we take a quick getaway, just the 4 of us (safely, of course). I was ecstatic and immediately went into planning mode because I was determined to make this the best Christmas ever!

My Legend Planner is my new favorite thing! These 2 pages made this quick trip possible. We did the 5 gift challenge with our boys this year. They made their list and we added our suggestions. With only 5 gifts per kid, it made it easier to pack the car.

PCB - here we come!

We decided to take a road trip to Panama City Beach and stay in an AirBnB. My only requirements were an open kitchen and a stand alone house (didn’t want to share elevators or entrances with anyone). We found a place that was absolutely perfect. A cute townhome, close enough to the water, with an outdoor food court a golf cart ride away (we had a ball with that golf cart).

We packed up the SUV and made the 5 hour trip to the beach. Once we arrived, I made sure to bring in the Christmas spirit and decorated the TV console. I couldn’t bring the whole set up, but I’m very pleased with the outcome. If you know me, you know baking is one of my favorite things to do. Any holiday is not complete without a baked good, and Christmas begs for cookies. The boys really got into the activity and Santa was pleased.

According to the boys, you can’t go to the beach without seeing the water. Considering it was FREEZING, I was fine with staying in with a bottomless mug of hot apple cider. However, I lost that battle. We piled up in the golf cart and headed to the water. It was absolutely worth it to see the boys play tag with the waves. Their joy outweighed my frozen bones.

'Best Christmas Ever'

RX said those exact words to me. We didn't do much, but this trip was just what we needed. The perfect ending to a craptastic year. We were still able to enjoy our traditions while creating new ones. What did you do for Christmas holiday?

When I saw these pajamas, I had to have them. We can certainly wear them year 'round because mommy and daddy ALWAYS need a charge.

XO,
